    1. Can we use a battery pack to drive the 8×8?
    I was thinking of 4 AA batteries, or other.

    I want to build a small demonstrator that doesn’t need a socket to show how our printed optics work.

    2. Do I need cooling?

    3. Does the array burn white without any control (arduino or other)

    So you will need an Arduino (or similar) to drive the board. You could power the Arduino from a battery pack and the display from the Arduino. There is a post here on the forum that describes the current draw of the board. So I suspect that batteries will not provide enough current to drive a full brightness but you would need to do the math. I have also noted that when powering the Arduino from a 12V supply the current draw across the voltage regulator can cause the arduino to hang.

    You should not need cooling.
